Items Shop Guide

The items shop sits in the center of the map in Build An Ant Empire. Everything listed here is a one-time-use consumable: speed jellies for timed buffs, mutation potions for EFF multipliers, and a removal potion for mistakes. This guide catalogs the full price ladder from our current facts, then shows how to buy without sabotaging colony upgrades.

If you still need the basic loop, read Getting Started first. For EFF ranking alone, see the mutations tier list.

Full shop table

ItemCostEffect
Normal Speed Jelly$10k1.3x speed for 5 min
Mutation Removal Potion$100kRemoves a mutation
Leaf Mutation Potion$1MLeaf mut, 1.35x EFF
Bubblegum Mutation Potion$5M1.75x EFF

Petal Mutation Potion$500T3x EFF
Prismatic Speed Jelly$100Qa2.5x speed for 15 min
Starlight Mutation Potion$5.1Qi5x EFF

Prices jump by orders of magnitude. That is intentional pressure: the shop is a late sink, not a beginner checklist.

Speed jellies vs mutations

Speed jellies - temporary. They help you move and produce faster for 5 - 15 minutes depending on tier. When the timer ends, you are back to baseline plus whatever permanent Ant speed board levels you own.

Mutation potions - apply EFF multipliers to ants until removed. They are the long-term power spike tied to the tier list quality of the target ant.

Never treat a jelly as a substitute for Egg luck. Jellies do not roll Divine ants for you.

Early shop buys that can make sense

  • Normal Speed Jelly ($10k) - cheap session buff once collect/sell is online. Fine to test during a Cash code.
  • Mutation Removal ($100k) - insurance after a misclick mutate. Buy when you need it, not preemptively in bulk.

Avoid Leaf+ spending until luck, rolls, food value, and slots from the upgrade boards are underway.

Midgame mutation ladder

  1. Leaf ($1M, 1.35x) - first mutate on a keeper mid-high rarity.
  2. Bubblegum ($5M, 1.75x) - first “real” paid power spike for ants you will keep.
  3. Hold for economy - push boards and rarities before billions-scale potions.

Put these on ants that already beat Commons. Mutating D-tier labor wastes the potion and the opportunity cost of more Egg rolls.

Late shop ladder

  • Candy ($50B, 2x) and Rainbow ($100B, 2.25x) - high-mid EFF steps for Legendary-class keepers.
  • Strong / Super / Prismatic jellies - expensive timed buffs for focused grind sessions, especially while a code timer also runs.
  • Petal ($500T, 3x) - premium endgame mutate.
  • Starlight ($5.1Qi, 5x) - maximum listed EFF potion; Divine/OP slot anchors only.

Purchase timing tips

  • Shop after upgrade levels that raise income, not before.
  • Combine jelly timers with active codes so Cash per minute spikes while buffs overlap.
  • Claim Index rewards when a new mutation discovery unlocks - milestones are once each.
  • If you hate a mutation result, Removal at $100k is almost always cheaper than coping.

What not to buy for

  • Mount experiments - mounts consume ants and barely beat walking; nest teleport exists.
  • Filling boredom while Egg luck is neglected.
  • Every ant in the colony - mutate elites, not the whole roster.

Scripts and auto shop buyers

Some community scripts advertise Auto Buy Upgrades or related toggles. They can mis-order spending and dump Cash into the wrong sink. If you use automation at all, lock shop purchases to manual decisions for potions this expensive.

Suggested milestones

Colony stageShop focus
Tutorial / first hourSkip potions; optional $10k jelly
Luck boards onlineRemoval if needed; consider Leaf on a keeper
Multiple strong slotsBubblegum; still prioritize boards
Billions+ CashCandy / Rainbow on elites
Trillions - Qa+Super/Prismatic jellies for sessions; Petal

The items shop is where empires look flashy. The players who actually afford Starlight are the ones who treated $10k jellies as tools and $5.1Qi potions as finals - not the ones who skipped Egg luck to window-shop in the center of the map.
